UN Global Compact Ocean Stewardship Coalition : Blue Road to COP 26

The eyes of the world are soon turning to Glasgow and COP 26. Never has global climate action and ambition been so vital. We are in code red for humanity and need to rapidly cut emissions across the global economy in a way that leaves no one behind.

Over the past months the UN Global Compact Blue Road to COP 26 has continued incorporating inputs from stakeholders worldwide to produce recommendations to present in Glasgow on how to advance ocean-climate action. 

We have also hosted several high level drumbeat meetings during the UN General Assembly week, Pre-COP 26 and the UN Global Sustainable Transport Conference. 

During the UN General Assembly week, we also officially launched the exciting next phase of our work with the establishment of the Ocean Stewardship Coalition. 

With a strengthened commitment to the climate agenda, we look forward to having a broader group of companies and stakeholders joining us to set the ocean sustainability agenda. More information about joining can be found on our website.

Several of our key Blue Road to COP 26 briefs are now available - the Blueprint for a Climate-Smart Ocean to Meet 1.5°C, Charting a 1.5°C Trajectory for Maritime Transport brief and Seaweed as a Nature-Based Climate Solution Vision Statement. 

We look forward to bringing these messages to Glasgow during several events. More information on our events and involvement is below. 

Beyond Glasgow, our next big milestone will be the UN Ocean Conference in Lisbon, June 2022. As the UN Global Compact will be coordinating private sector participation, we look forward to engaging with you all on this.
